Spring 2021 Rush Event Dates
Mon. January 25th - Meet The Brothers
Message From Our Director Of Recruitment
Dear Prospective Rushee,
Welcome to the Iota Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi here at Arizona State University! My name is Chelsea Medina, and I am the current Director of Recruitment for Spring 2021. I would like to formally welcome you to our chapter’s website. As the oldest and largest professional business fraternity in the United States, Alpha Kappa Psi has been recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. We have built our network of brothers on the foundation of Brotherhood, Unity, Service, Knowledge, and Integrity, and we strive to better ourselves in current and future interactions.
I joined Alpha Kappa Psi because I wanted to surround myself with others who were actively engaged on ASU’s campus, developing their professional skills, and taking the right steps to becoming a principled business leader. Alpha Kappa Psi has provided me with the right resources and connections to expand my networks, develop professionally in a variety of ways, seek new opportunities, and become a far more effective leader.
After joining Alpha Kappa Psi, my life as a student drastically improved, and I say with confidence that rushing is one of the best decisions I could have ever taken for my career and my college experience. Since becoming a brother, I have been able to meet and interact with some of the most diverse and ambitious brothers, who are now some of my best friends.
If you are at all interested in joining the Arizona State University Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, I encourage you to come to our recruitment events, meet and mingle with our active brothers, and ask questions on topics you hope to learn more about! This semester, Alpha Kappa Psi and our recruitment committee creatively came up with a way to transition our old rush traditions to a 100% online format as to best regulate health concerns.
Join us and learn what Alpha Kappa Psi could mean for you. I hope to see you at this semester’s recruitment events! Please feel free and reach out with any questions or concerns.
Spring 2021 Director of Recruitment
How will Rushing be different in Spring 2021?
Our recruitment committee has done an excellent job of maintaining the format of our rush process while ensuring the safety of our brothers and potential new members. All of our rush events will be held virtually through Zoom. To receive information about our Zoom events, please sign up for rush notifications with the form above.
WHAT MAKES ALPHA KAPPA PSI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GREEK ORGANIZATIONS?
Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity. Unlike other Greek organizations on campus which are socially-oriented,. we focus on professional development through workshops, events, networking mixers and more. Yet, just like the social organizations, we also coordinate social events and participate in volunteer activities on and off campus. If you are involved with a social fraternity or sorority already, you can still rush Alpha Kappa Psi!
WHAT IS THE RUSH PROCESS LIKE?
Recruitment includes a virtual rush week, online application, and bid interview. Rush week consists of five social events for you to virtually meet our brothers and see if Alpha Kappa Psi is a good fit for you. There will be an online application followed by a bid interview. By signing up for our Fall 2020 Rush notifications you will be provided with reminders about Rush events and how to prepare for them!
WHAT IS THE PLEDGING PROCESS LIKE?
This semester, the pledge committee has restructured the pledge process to be completely virtual in order to ensure the safety of our brothers and pledges. The pledge process is about eight weeks long and consists of one meeting a week and a completion of a certain amount of interviews with our active brothers. Additionally, pledges work together with the rest of their pledge class to put on a large-scale service event for an organization. Our pledge process is designed to challenge and test individuals for professional and personal growth. As long as you can manage your time properly, pledging is a great and fun experience.
WHAT DOES ALPHA KAPPA PSI LOOK FOR IN A POTENTIAL CANDIDATE?
Alpha Kappa Psi is interested in highly motivated individuals who strive to better themselves. We like to see students who show characteristics of leadership, passion, and individuality and who are motivated to add value and growth to our chapter. The focus is not on perfection but on your potential to grow and make an impact.
DO YOU HAVE TO ATTEND ALL RECRUITMENT EVENTS IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR MEMBERSHIP?
No. If you can’t make it to any of the rush events, we will encourage you to apply! We understand that individuals have other priorities such as work, school, or personal matters. Although it is not required, we recommend our prospective members to take advantage of the events we host during rush week to see if Alpha Kappa Psi is a good fit. Coming to our recruitment events is a great way to show the brothers the interest you have in joining our fraternity!
WHO CAN RUSH AKPSI?
All undergraduate students at ASU with at least two academic semesters left and at least a 3.0 GPA are welcome to apply! We encourage students of all majors to rush for a chance to develop themselves professionally and join our brotherhood.
