A Message From Our Director Of Recruitment
Dear Prospective Rushee,
My name is Taylor Mittelstedt, and I am the Director of Recruitment. On behalf of the Iota Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, I want to be the first to welcome you to our chapter’s website and rush week events.
As the oldest and largest professional business fraternity in the United States, Alpha Kappa Psi has been recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. We have built our network of brothers on the foundation of brotherhood, unity, service, knowledge, and integrity.
I joined Alpha Kappa Psi to expose myself to new opportunities and meet similarly-minded individuals. I wanted to surround myself with a community that would help me better myself both personally and professionally, and I can say that without a doubt, rushing Alpha Kappa Psi was one of the best decisions I have made in college so far. I gained over one hundred instant friends, developed professional skills, and started taking the right steps to becoming a principled business leader.
After the crazy year that we have had, I am sure that you are searching for ways to meet new people and get involved. Joining Alpha Kappa Psi will help you do just that, so if you are at all interested in joining our brotherhood, I encourage you to attend our recruitment events, meet our active brothers, and ask questions to learn more about our fraternity.
Join us and learn what Alpha Kappa Psi could mean for you. I hope to see you at this semester’s recruitment events! Please feel free and reach out with any questions or concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Alpha Kappa Psi?
Joining Alpha Kappa Psi is an amazing way to get more involved on campus. You will not only develop professionally, but you will also gain lifelong friendships. Our professional development opportunities allow our brothers to build necessary skills for the workforce and connects them to our international alumni network, opening up potential job opportunities across the world. We have a variety of leadership opportunities within our chapter for brothers to take on, develop leadership skills, and become more involved in the fraternity. Finally, with weekly brotherhood events and study sessions on Dean’s Patio, you gain access to a social circle of like-minded individuals.
What makes Alpha Kappa Psi different from other Greek Organizations?
Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity. Unlike other Greek organizations on campus which are socially-oriented, we focus on professional development through workshops, events, networking mixers and more. Yet, just like the social organizations, we coordinate social events and participate in volunteer activities on and off campus. If you are involved with a social fraternity or sorority already, you can still rush Alpha Kappa Psi!
WHO CAN RUSH AKPSI?
Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed fraternity, so all undergraduate students at ASU with at least two academic semesters left and at least a 3.0 GPA are welcome to apply! We encourage students of all majors to rush for a chance to develop themselves professionally and join our brotherhood.
WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS LIKE?
Our online application is fairly simple to complete. After filling out some basic personal information and telling us why you want to join Alpha Kappa Psi, you will need to upload your resume and transcript, as well as a professional headshot. Applications are due Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
What does Alpha Kappa Psi look for in a potential candidate?
Alpha Kappa Psi is interested in highly motivated individuals who strive to better themselves. We like to see students who show characteristics of leadership, passion, and individuality and who are motivated to add value and growth to our chapter. The focus is not on perfection but on your potential to grow and make an impact.
WHAT IS THE RUSH PROCESS LIKE?
The rush process includes rush week, an online application, and a bid interview. Rush week consists of five social events for you to get to know our brothers and see if Alpha Kappa Psi is a good fit for you. Next, you complete a simple online application to let us know that you are interested in joining the fraternity. Finally, we will reach out to schedule a bid interview with you. If you sign up for our rush notifications, you will be provided with reminders about rush week events and given helpful hints on how to prepare for them!
IS RECRUITMENT TAKING PLACE IN-PERSON OR VIRTUALLY?
Alpha Kappa Psi will be hosting an entirely in-person rush week. We are following ASU guidelines for hosting in-person events closely and will do our best to ensure the safety of all participants. Please refer to ASU's guidelines for in-person events and meetings for more information.
DO YOU HAVE TO ATTEND ALL RECRUITMENT EVENTS IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR MEMBERSHIP?
No. We understand if you can’t make it to all of the rush week events, and you are still invited to apply for membership. That being said, we encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to get to know our brothers and determine if Alpha Kappa Psi is a good fit for you. Coming to our recruitment events is a great way to show our brothers that you are interested in joining the fraternity!
WHAT IS THE PLEDGING PROCESS LIKE?
The pledging process is about eight weeks long. Each week you will attend a pledge meeting where you engage in professional development and learn more about Alpha Kappa Psi. During this time, you will also be required to complete interviews with some of our active brothers. Additionally, you will work with the rest of your pledge class to put on a large-scale service event for an organization that our chapter partners with. Our pledge process is designed to challenge and test individuals for personal and professional growth. As long as you can manage your time properly, pledging is a great experience that complements your academic life well.
IS THERE HAZING?
No. Alpha Kappa Psi has strict policies against hazing.
